WINTERWinter’s Bone is a strong Oscar contender next year having just won Best Film at the Gotham Independent Film Awards last week in New York. (Last year at the Gotham Awards, The Hurt Locker won best feature and went on to win best film at the Oscars.)

The film – which is Curious’ first theatrical release in Australia/New Zealand – also picked up 7 nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards in Los Angeles.

It was made with a budget of around $2 million and tells the tale of a family enmeshed in the meth trade in rural southern Missouri.

Time Out Sydney describes it as an “indie Deliverance” and gave it 5-stars. Check out the review here.
