In the US, the Creative Agency of the Year and the Media Agency of the Year were both independent, owner-managed businesses.

In the UK, seven out of the ten top new business winners were independent agencies. In Germany, independent agencies filled seven out of ten places in the digital agencies’ creative rankings.

And last year at Cannes, independent agencies won more Grand Prix’s than WPP, Publicis Groupe, Havas and Interpublic counted all together.

Thenetworkone’s “independent agency showcase” seminar this Sunday afternoon, June 19th, features speakers from three of the best:

Rob Jack of Special Group, Auckland, a Cannes Grand Prix winner last year (pictured); Ali Ali of Elephant Cairo, a double Grand Prix winner in 2011 at Dubai Lynx; And John Matejczyk of muh.tay.zik hof.fer, a new agency launched just this year, although Matejczyk himself has won more awards at more festivals than most of us could name.

Says Julian Boulding, president of thenetworkone: “Every network agency began life as an independent. Independent agencies are the lifeblood of our business, pursuing new ideas and new ways of working, with the flexibility and agility that our rapidly changing industry needs today.”
