To mark the centennial of Bill Bernbach’s birth (August 13, 1911), DDB New Zealand created this tribute which ran in the Herald on Friday.

What a load of wank. Honestly, who would’ve given a flying fuck about what this ad is telling you, apart from ad people?
Naturally, it would have been very eye-catching and attracted lots of readers – who then would have probably been a bit annoyed at being educated about the father of modern “inconvenience” (to most people).
Maybe some kind of office celebration of the great man would have been more appropriate.
I like how they’ve even left the widows in the copy like in the original VW ads.
