Four teams of four, comprising a creative team, media specialist and digital specialist, will work in a hot house environment to crack the live cross-platform brief for Caxton 2011 sponsor and Caxton Cadets partner Lion. Teams will be drawn from the industry’s brightest talent, providing an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and to participate in one of the country’s leading creative seminars.

Says Caxton Committee chairman Rob Belgiovane: “Caxton Cadets brings the cut and thrust of a live creative competition to the Caxton Seminar and Awards for the first time ever. As well as creating a live cross-platform newspaper campaign for Lion, the teams also attend all the Caxton speaker sessions and events as well as rub shoulders with the industry’s creative thought leaders at the Chateau Elan in the Hunter Valley. It’s a great opportunity for the industry’s young talent to show what they’re made of and we’d like to thank Lion for partnering with us to make Caxton Cadets happen.”

Teams will present at the Caxtons to an esteemed panel of judges and the winning team will be awarded on the night of the Caxton Awards.

The winning campaign will be produced and run in newspapers (print, online, tablet and mobile) during the first half of 2012. In addition, each winning team member will receive $2,000 each as well as the assistance of News Limited in crafting a submission for their campaign’s entry into the 2012 Cannes Lions.

Lion Brand Director Jon Bradshaw said: “We are delighted to be part of this year’s inaugural Caxton Cadets competition and hope that the opportunity to work on one of Lion’s amazing brands excites the teams and brings out the very best of Australia’s young creative and strategic talent. I’m looking forward to seeing the results and helping select a winner at this year Caxtons.”

The competing teams for Caxton Cadets will be hand-selected by the Caxton Committee in consultation with agency heads and announced next month.

The 2011 Caxton Seminar and Awards will be held from October 27-29. Delegates will convene at Chateau Elan, a new luxury 5-star resort located on The Vintage golf course in the Hunter Valley.
