Snow helps Barnes, Catmur & Friends win NAB August Newspaper Ad of the Month for Subaru

Screen shot 2011-09-05 at 1.33.28 PM.jpgAugust’s cold snap that brought snow to much of New Zealand proved a perfect topical foil for great ideas. Barnes, Catmur & Friends, Auckland used it to great effect with its Road Open ad for Subaru which won the August NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month, whilst DDB’s Powerball ad, playing on the chances of snow in Auckland, received an Honourable Mention.

Commenting on BC&F’s win, the judges said: “It played nicely into the Subaru brand setting up the four wheel drive promise and also cleverly took the piss out Aucklanders!”

The judges also commended DDB’s quick topical response to the snow for Lotto Powerball.
