DDB takes out 2011 NBR Agency of the Year title
DDB New Zealand has taken out the NZ National Business Review Advertising Agency of the Year award, adding to a hoard of wins for 2011.
The award continues a stellar run for the agency, having won last year’s Campaign Brief (shared with Colenso BBDO) and Fairfax/AdMedia Agency of the Year awards.
DDB beat off stiff competition from Draft FCB, Shine and String Theory to win the NBR Award.
Says NBR Editor in Chief Nevil Gibson: “When it came to choosing the overall winner and Agency of the Year it was a no contest – DDB was the standout, producing New Zealand’s most loved advertisement ‘Lucky Dog’ for Lotto.”
DDB New Zealand CEO Sandy Moore (far left, with ECD Toby Talbot in Cannes last year) says the award is a great accolade from the country’s leading influential business newspaper: “We owe our success to the amazing people we have in the DDB Group and the outstanding product we create for our clients. A big thank you must also go to our clients, who have allowed us to showcase our talents and positively influence their marketing campaigns this year.
“Stand-out work that has certainly been noticed by our peers and the market at large includes Lotto ‘Lucky dog‘, Steinlager ‘White can’, SKY TV ‘Drill sergeant’ and ANZ Bank ‘We live in your world’.
“No other agency has had this number of high profile campaigns in the market this year and coupled with our business success, achieved the winning result. This is such a great way to finish a fantastic year,” says Moore.
DDB New Zealand has also won golds and silvers at the Axis awards this year and won Fair Go’s most popular ad of the year with the ‘Lucky Dog’ advertisement for Lotto.

Why does the phrase ‘beat off stiff competition’ make me giggle?
“Beat off stiff competition”. I just knew that’s what the one comment would be about.
