Shift’s ‘The Side Project’ takes out Microphone trophy at inaugural Sydney Battle of the Bands

bob november1.jpgUPDATED WITH MORE PHOTOSOver 200 people enjoyed a phenomenal inaugural Battle of the Bands last night.  

Presented by The Communications Council and Flying Fish, the perpetual Microphone trophy went to ‘The Side Project’, agency Shift’s band, for its rendition of Mungo Jerry’s ‘In the Summertime’ and Mike Snow’s ‘Animal Project’ and the performance of their original song ‘What Next’.

 

Beside the trophy, the band also received the chance to record a music video and a cash prize.

 

Held at the Oxford Art Factory, five outstanding bands took to the Stage – BMF’s ‘Conceptual Romance’, Profero’s ‘Elements of F*cking Style’, Loud’s ‘All Ordinaries’, BWM’s ‘Let’s Take it Offline’, which featured a surprise appearance by Rob Belgiovane, and Shift’s ‘The Side Project’.

The judging panel consisted of music experts Paul Harris (Sony) and Paul Friedmann (Flying Fish).

 

The Battle of the Ad Bands returns next year, so start practising!
