.99 takes out Dec Newspaper Ad of the Month for Westpac; DDB win January competition for Rialto

Screen shot 2012-02-14 at 4.34.23 AM.jpg.99, Auckland’s Westpac Dairy Industry Awards was named December’s NAB Newspaper Ad of the Month winner, while DDB New Zealand’s ‘King’s Speech’ ad for Rialto was selected the January winner.

December and January’s judges were Nicci Doak from M&C Saatchi, Auckland and Connan James from Whybin\TBWA, Auckland.

Screen shot 2012-02-14 at 4.34.55 AM.jpgOf the Westpac work, the judges said: “This ad made the subject interesting. With engaging copy and attention to detail, these guys cared about what they were doing.”

And of Rialto: “So well written you wanted to keep reading – which is rare,” said the judges. “The campaign thought is fresh, and we haven’t seen this idea before.”

December and January’s winning creative teams receive $250 cash each with the ads sponsored by the NAB into the 2012 Axis Awards. The ads will also appear in the What’s New showcase section of AdMedia and are now finalists in the 2011/12 $10,000 Newspaper Ad of Year competition judged later this year.
