Genelle Sharples joins Mediabrands Australia

Genelle Sharples.jpgGroupM Asia Pacific’s former director of learning and development Genelle Sharples is joining Mediabrands Australia as the communications group’s chief learning officer.

Sharples will report to Mediabrands Australia executive chairman Henry Tajer and will work across all divisions of the business that has current total staff of 350 people.

Says Tajer: “Genelle is a world class talent with an enviable reputation for driving positive behavioural change through learning and development, facilitation and coaching programs.

She will take on the highly important role of driving our professional development and learning programs that will further accelerate Mediabrands’ differentiation and competitive capabilities in Australia.”

Sharples led the Mindshare and GroupM people development programs for nine years and has most recently been the principal of her Hong Kong-based business Activate Expertise, which focused on helping people master new skills and boost their personal talent and potential.

Says Sharples: “When I met with senior Mediabrands executives I was impressed with the calibre of the people and their collaborative approach. Henry and the senior team have a grand ambition for the Mediabrands business and they understand how professional learning and development can contribute to their future success. I am delighted to be joining the team and driving this new portfolio at Mediabrands.”

 

Sharples will be based in the new Mediabrands Sydney offices and will start work on November 21st.   

Mediabrands Australia includes major media communications agencies Initiative and UM, MagnaGlobal (investment intelligence), Mediabrands Analytics, Reprise Media (search and social media), Ensemble (branded entertainment) and the IPG online media buying agency Cadreon.
