State Insurance launches ‘Break my Stride’ tv and radio campaign via Colenso BBDO, Auckland
CB Exclusive – State Insurance is launching a new TV and radio campaign this weekend produced by Colenso BBDO.
The campaign kicks off with a 90 second, single shot TV spot – one of the longest one-shot commercials in New Zealand’s advertising history – featuring a full cast of characters who find themselves in unfortunate situations. Singing along to an adapted version of the ’80’s hit song “Break My Stride” these State customers tell us how, in the face of adversity, State will keep them moving.
This campaign is an evolution of the ‘Love your stuff’ positioning established in 2010 with the “Favourite Things” campaign.
“Our customers want to have confidence their insurer will be there for them at claim time, helping to keep them moving. We’re proud of what we do at State and we hope people will enjoy our campaign,” says Mary-Jane Daly, Executive General Manager of State Insurance.
Says Nick Garrett, managing director of Colenso BBDO: “We wanted to grab the attention of both existing and potential State customers with an engaging campaign that will get the phones ringing. The musical direction and craft of both the TV and radio creative serves to create memorable advertising that delivers the message about State’s commitment to providing an efficient service”.
The campaign launches on TV this Sunday at 7.10pm with a roadblock on channels 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Wow, fantastic.
Comment 1 is obviously by someone from the production company. One well choreographed shot – no matter how complicated – doesn’t make it right.
I agree with Jim.
Crikey, whoever sold the client on doing a 90 second spot needs to start a sales school.
Love how he gets a replacement car by the end.
love the spot and enjoy hearing that song again. Was that the last take of the day that they used or did they have the balls to try and shoot it right on sunset? either way, well done..
Like it. Love the brand line at the end.
No surprises at all. Anything that Emma has to do with a marketing campaign will always be exceptional.
