tss5.jpgAfter a one-and-a-half day workshop and a 24-hour challenge, Team Auckland – Lachlan Palmer-Hubbard and Graeme Clarke – won the ADFEST Young Lotus Workshop in Thailand last night.

Their ‘China Go Further’ idea used cyclists representing Chinese cities to drum up friendly rivalry between the cities.

The Colenso BBDO creatives – who were sponsored by The Sweet Shop and CAANZ – have pieces of work for The New Zealand Book Council ʻBooks Shape Youʼ andFrucor Beverages ʻV Paintballʼ in eight ʻfinalistʼ categories at this yearʼs CAANZAxis Awards.

Says George Mackenzie, managing director of The Sweet Shop – who is at ADFEST as president of the Film Craft jury: “It was a strong line up of finalists this year and Iʼm proud that the New Zealand team won. The Sweet Shop is delighted to once again be supporting young Kiwi creative talent.”

Says Clark: “It was a whirlwind experience for us. We didn’t sleep a single wink during those 24 hours. In fact, we barely had enough sleep after that, as we had to prepare for the Young Lotus Showdown which took place noon yesterday.”

Adds Palmer-Hubbard: “It was interesting not having a creative director going though our work. It may sound like a good thing, but I must say it was really challenging to be our own CDs and filter down our ideas.”

To be eligible for this opportunity both creatives had to be under 30 and have been in advertising for a year. The ADFEST Young Lotus Workshop is an opportunity for young creative teams to grow their experience in the presence of award-winning industry gurus from the Asia Pacific region. The winners were announced at the ADFEST Young Lotus Awards presentation.
