Saatchi’s makes a porno: Call for entries to this year’s Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase
The Call for entries to this year’s Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase. Shot on location in the UK, the film, ‘Naked Ambition’ was helmed by renowned director Chris Palmer and features an adult movie director whose real ambition is to make ads.
His obsession sees him incorporate iconic advertising references, techniques and slogans into his adult films, such as Heineken’s “refreshes the parts others can’t reach”, John Smith’s “‘ave it” and Peperami’s “it’s a bit of an animal”.
Entries will be judged by the Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide creative board and will take place in Cannes this year on 21 June. Last year, 17 directors made the cut.
Notable directors who have appeared in past Showcases include Fredrik Bond, Chris Cunningham, Nicolai Fuglsig, Jonathan Glazer and Michel Gondry.

I’ve heard you need a high opinion of yourself to succeed as an ad director but “Christ” Palmer seems a big call.
I laughed. Bloody funny.
Fucking fantastic. Killer end line.
Now that’s funny.
Director: Phil McAvity. Love it.
Now that’s funny. So would the authors of most of the “funny” stuff that’s been on this blog, take note.
Lame.
Brilliant!
yuck
Good to see Benny Hill still writing ads…
Nothing like taking the craft to a new low is there…
Totally. A new low. This is crap.
In the tradition of the ‘Truth in Advertising’ film for the showcase a few years back. Good.
Oh man, this low brow, un-crafted piece of you know what really does a disservice to the years of brilliant work we’ve seen in the Saatchi New Directors showcase. Makes it look like a place to enter silly student crap. As an ex Saatchi person, it’s sad to see.
YEEEEASSSS, THIS IS FROM LON-DON!
spot on ex saatchi
Back in the day, as the youngsters like to say, when young Droga was merely CD of one of Saatchi’s more notable offices, he/they submitted the following headline-only print ad to a gang-bang to find the definitive ad for the New Directors showcase: ‘This year you don’t know them. Next year they don’t know you.’
Brilliant then, and now. And better, frankly, than any of the local D5 work since.
Get it right: This year they don’t know you. Next year you don’t know them.
What’s it trying to sell again?
Don’t be a daft twat eh? It’s advertising how much English advertising shits all over anything this piss-ant colony has ever done. This is brill.
I think the reason there’s so many haters is because our creatives don’t get the fact that in the UK it is a genuine step up from porn. If I was a director in this country, looking at the scripts that are landing on my desk, I think a career directing porn would be (a) more rewarding. And (b) More profitable.
Want to put $100 on it, 11:24? Yours makes no sense at all.
