Nick McKenzie.jpgOne of Australia’s most respected journalists, Nick McKenzie, has been confirmed as guest speakers for the 2012 Caxton Seminar and Awards.

The Caxton Committee said today that McKenzie would join the line-up of speakers, representing Fairfax Media at this year’s event.

McKenzie is a highly experienced and multi-award winning investigative journalist.  He works for The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald and occasionally reports for ABC TV’s Four Corners program.

He has won Australia’s highest journalism award, the Walkley, three times for his work exposing corruption and organised crime. Last year he was joint winner of the prestigious Monash University Gold Quill at the Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards, and set a new record by winning his 12th Quill in seven years, which is more Quills than any other individual in the 16-year history of the awards.

McKenzie’s work has triggered several major inquiries, including Australia’s biggest bribery investigation. His latest novel, The Sting tells the true story of an Australian law enforcement agency pitted against a tech-savvy, billion-dollar global organised crime empire. In his spare time, McKenzie surfs.

Delegates at the 2012 Caxtons will hear from international keynote speaker, founding partner of Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Jeff Goodby, Goodby, Silverstein managing partner Derek Robson and chairman and global director of TBWA\Worldwide, Lee Clow, who will make a special ‘virtual’ appearance at the seminar.

Australian speakers include Daily Telegraph journalist Joe Hildebrand, managing director of Hopscotch Group and renowned movie executive Troy Lum, Commonwealth Bank chief marketing & online officer Andy Lark, PHD Media Australia strategy director Chris Stephenson and Special Group creative director and founding partner Tony Bradbourne.

The 2012 Caxton Seminar and Awards will be held from Friday to Sunday, October 12th to 14th, at Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays.
