The AWARD Committee has a long standing history of reflecting the diversity and experience of the broader creative industries. Championing new and original thinking in the Australasian region, AWARD seeks to work with world class talent to progress its agenda of raising the creative standards in the region.

Says Craig Davis, chief creative officer and co-chairman of Publicis Mojo: “Advertising agencies, design companies and digital specialists don’t have a monopoly on creativity. Google is a technology company with a highly creative culture and Tom Uglow has been instrumental in Google’s creative development globally. AWARD exists to champion commercial creativity and inspire new thinking, new ideas and new ways of working. Tom will bring another set of talents and a different perspective to the table. I’m thrilled that Tom is joining us.”

Uglow started Google’s Creative Lab in Europe and has recently moved to Sydney to work on exploratory projects and creative ideas that help connect Google, Android and YouTube with users.

Says Uglow: “I’m very happy to be joining the AWARD committee at an exciting time for digital marketing, with the Australian creative industry beginning to show on the global digital stage. There is a wealth of talent and opportunity here, and it’s a privilege to be invited to join this group.

“At Google we work collaboratively with a range of agencies but always try to bring a “digital first” perspective to creativity.

I believe in a future of creative that exists for the user across mobile and interactive, online and offline – and I hope that my involvement can help young creatives to champion that imperative for the industry.”

Uglow is joining existing committee members including chairman Craig Davis, Publicis Mojo, Michael Ritchie, Revolver, Mark Harricks, JWT, Adrian McNamara, EURO RSCG Chris Gillespie, Future Buro and Duncan Marshall, Droga 5.

The committee works across five portfolios: the industry’s yearly festival of Commercial Creativity ‘Circus’, AWARD Membership, Events, the annual AWARD Awards and the Education portfolio, currently operating under AWARD School head Adrian McNamara.

An ambitious and progressive agenda for 2012/2013 includes AWARD’s pub night events with creative heavyweights, the Circus festival of Commercial Creativity, and the soon to be released AWARD annual.
