DB Breweries’ Export 33 launches tongue-in-cheek campaign via Colenso BBDO Auckland

DB Export.jpgDB Breweries and Colenso BBDO have launched a new campaign for Export 33, which follows DB Export’s ongoing crusade to let nothing come between a man and a great beer.

The new tongue-in-cheek spot, directed by Australia’s Tim Bullock from Prodigy, poses revolutionary insight into why men love Export 33, and why their partners love it when they drink their favourite great tasting beer.

For men, it’s a self-sacrificing notion of drinking a great tasting low-carb Export 33 for his woman. While for the ladies, it’s this selfless act that in essence keeps him looking ‘tasty’- its win win!

The 60-second television commercial, shot over three days, comes complete with a Latino pianist, galloping horses and the gratuitous use of soft focus lenses.

Says Julia Imlah, DB Export marketing manager: “We’re having a bit of fun with this campaign by getting women to support their men drinking Export 33. Simply put, he gets a great tasting low carb beer and she gets a tastier man.”

Says Nick Garrett, Colenso BBDO’s managing director: “It’s great to have an opportunity to produce more work for DB and have a bit of fun while we do it. This campaign continues the DB Export cause first started by Morton Coutts in the 1950’s to let nothing come between a man and a great beer.”

While the campaign is light hearted the credentials of Export 33 are not, being awarded the ‘Best Low Carbohydrate Beer in New Zealand’ at the BrewNZ Awards. It also became the first and only New Zealand low carb beer to win a Gold medal at the prestigious Monde Selection awards in Belgium.
