Prodigy director Tim Bullock and Jungleboys’ directing duo The Van Vuuren Bros scoop wins at the 2013 Australian Directors Guild Awards

photoaward.jpgProdigy director Tim Bullock has won the Australian Directors Guild 2013 Award for Best Direction in a Television Commercial with DDB Auckland’s – Westpac “Flatties” and Jungleboys director duo The Van Vuuren Bros. have won Best Direction in an Original Online Project for their web series ‘Bondi Hipsters’.

Bullock took out the prestigious Best Direction Award on Friday evening in Sydney held at Fox Studios which was attended by the the cream of Australia’s directing talent. The spot was produced for DDB Auckland and client Westpac which shows a group of mature adults still living in shared accommodation. The campaigns aims to encourage renters to explore the option of buying a home.

This is the 2nd time Bullock has taken home the coveted award, he previously won in 2010 for his work on Toyota’s “Border Patrol” – which subsequently went on to win 5 Gold Lions at Cannes the same year.

Says Jonathan Samway, Prodigy’s executive producer: “This award, judged by Tim’s peers in the industry, is a strong commendation of the level of work Tim does and we couldn’t be any prouder.”

 

Brothers Christiaan and Connor Van Vuuren are the directing team behind viral hits such as ‘The Fully Sick Rapper’ and ‘Bondi Hipsters’, which have collectively received over 7 million hits worldwide.

 

The Van Vuuren Bros.’ recent commercial work includes branded content series the ‘Boosted Inspiration Series’ for Cadbury Boost and Droga5. Other work includes TV commercials and branded content for Ikea, American Express and One Shift.
