Thoel has spent the past eight and a half years at Smuggler where she was executive producer. Thoel is passionate about the creative process and has a reputation for nurturing and supporting emerging young talent. She particularly enjoys the mentoring process with both directors and production support staff.

Says Thoel: “What attracted me to The Sweet Shop was the talent, first and foremost. The level of work is amazing and multi-faceted; The Sweet Shop has a director for every genre. It was important to me to be at a company with a digital component, which is well taken care of here at the Rumpus Room. I also loved the forward thinking approach to the business by the Global Management Department. With offices in Los Angeles, London, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, and Bangkok, we can cost effectively produce anywhere in the world.”

Says Paul Prince, CEO and managing partner of The Sweet Shop: “I’m honored that Laura has joined our global management team and will run the US business. It has been our goal from day one to offer our Directors and our Clients the best production in the business. With Laura now joining our team I can say with complete confidence that we have the best management team to support and grow our creative partners ambitions across the globe. Watch this space.”

Her quick wit and creative instincts complement and strengthen The Sweet Shop’s global management team which includes: Wilf Sweetland in Australia, Spencer Dodd in the U.K, Claire Davidson in Asia/MENA, Fiona King in New Zealand along with global managing partners, Sharlene George, Paul Prince and Melanie Bridge.  Thoel will also manage marketing and production in the US for digital sister company, The Rumpus Room.
