VINIT SURAPHONGCHAI.jpgMany delegates attending AdFest 2014 are understandably concerned over the situation in Bangkok in regards to this year’s festival.

Vinit Suraphongchai, Chairman of the AdFest Steering Committee, has issued the following statement: “We are of course monitoring the situation very closely and while the situation is still volatile with the recent clashes a few days ago, we do not believe the protests – which are focused on very specific and limited areas in Bangkok – will affect AdFest.

We believe the demonstrations, while running out of steam, will go on in some parts of Bangkok and the South for some time longer. We are certain the airport will be unaffected and that areas outside Bangkok, ie. Pattaya (the location of AdFest 2014) will remain normal, with the exception of a few isolated areas in southern Thailand. We hope that this statement will assure you that there should be no undue risks to attend AdFest.”

On 18th February, the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) also issued the following update on the Thai political situation, stating: “While the demonstrations are taking place in the central Bangkok areas, life in the most parts of the Thai capital and throughout Thailand continues as usual. However, tourists are advised to be vigilant and avoid the demonstration areas for their own safety and security. Bangkok is a large city and so it is possible for local residents and international visitors to avoid the demonstration areas. All airports in Bangkok and throughout Thailand are open and operating as per normal.”
