image003.jpgAir New Zealand via Host Sydney, has released the most recent instalment of its successful ‘Meanwhile in… New Zealand’ campaign – celebrating daily services to the New Zealand ski fields with an epic snow fight between the age old on mountain rivals.

Skiers versus snowboarders battle it out in old fashioned style with catapults (trebuchets) and huge snowballs at Snow Farm on the eastern side of the Cardrona Valley, near Wanaka.

The video features New Zealand freestyle skier and Olympian Josiah “Jossi” Wells leading #teamski. Some may also recognise the captain of #teamboard as Eddie Spearing, an adventurous Wanaka local and snowboarding personality who also starred as the Tortoise in Air New Zealand’s recent ‘Tortoise & Hare’ video.

Queenstown and Wanaka locals, keen to share their backyard with Australian skiers and snowboarders rounded out the teams and Air New Zealand crew were on hand to supply refreshments and encouragement.

Viewers of the video also have the opportunity to declare their tribal affiliation to either #teamski or #teamboard in their comments, tweets and posts.

Australian visitors to New Zealand this winter will also have the opportunity to win back the cost of their return flight. Each week from July 13 to August 30, one winner will be selected from those who have tagged a photo or video of their trip on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with #MeanwhileInNZ.

The Meanwhile in New Zealand campaign showcases what is happening in New Zealand right now, encouraging more Australians to tick New Zealand off their bucket list and visit now.
