Sunday Punch recruits Nikki Smith as new MD and EP; signs comedy director Helena Brooks

pic2.jpegNew Zealand based Sunday Punch has announced the appointment of Nikki Smith as its new managing director and executive producer. Smith’s first undertaking; signing comedy director Helena Brooks.

With 15 years experience the multi award-winning producer, Smith has worked previously with clients as diverse as Apple, Toyota, Westpac, Reebok, Ford, Sony, Nissan, Vodafone and DB.

In her first week Smith has already signed top comedic director Helena Brooks to the Sunday Punch roster.

As well as winning Axis, Webby and AWARD gongs for commercials and Cannes nods for film, Brooks directs TV sketches for Jono & Ben and Comedy for Cure Kids.

Says Smith: “I’m thrilled to have Helena on board – her comedic voice and exceptional direction is the perfect addition to our squad. Exciting things to come for sure.”

Brooks’ latest two spots are ASB, featuring Josh Thomson and Maggi, featuring Jaquie Brown.

Launched in 2013, Sunday Punch is home to New Zealand’s premier comedic directing and writing talent. Smith’s appointment shows a keenness to widen that range as the company grows into a multi-faceted production house with more key appointments expected in the coming weeks.
