Night Shift 2.jpgCurious Film director Zia Mandviwalla’s short film Night Shift has won two awards at the 24fps International Short Film Festival, including a Grand Jury Silver Medal and a Best Actress Award for star Anapela Polataivao.

Night Shift tells the story of airport cleaner Salote who tries to make it through another long shift. She does her job, does not draw attention to herself, and carves out her survival from what commuters leave behind.

Selected to screen at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Night Shift also made headways in 2012 screening at the Cannes International Film Festival, the Melbourne International Film Festival, the Sydney Film Festival and the New Zealand International Film Festival.

Says Peter Grasses, Curious Film EP: “We are extremely proud of Zia and her achievements with Night Shift both locally and abroad. This latest Grand Jury Silver Medal and Best Actress Award marks another milestone in the film’s continual success.”

Since its inception in 1999, the 24fps International Short Film Festival has presented programs of short films by artists from around the world. The juried competition is open to any work made outside the major worldwide film studio system.
