Now in its 8th year of publication, The Work is a 400 page, hard cover publication (including DVD) that features the very best advertising of the year from Australia, New Zealand and Asia. The Work is recognised as the only true permanent record of creativity from the entire region. There are two things that differentiate The Work 09 apart from traditional award shows. Firstly, The Work is selective - to qualify for entry the ad or campaign must have already passed the test and been a finalist or winner at an awards show. Secondly, there is no wasted entry fees - only accepted work incurs an acceptance fee.
Entry deadline is FRIDAY, AUGUST 7th 2009.

"We are extremely fortunate to have two speakers of this calibre to speak at the Caxtons this year, especially with our theme of 'creativity as a currency," says Caxton chairman Rob Belgiovane, creative partner at BWM Sydney. "They will both bring an immense amount of global experience and knowledge to our seminar."
UPDATED STORY - Tourism WA has taken the controversial route and appointed Sydney agency Host to their account. Host pitched against BMF Sydney and 303 Perth in the three-way review. 303 Perth Managing Director Alan Taylor said the agency was very disappointed. He believed they put together a great pitch utilising the full resources of both their Perth and Sydney agencies.
"We gave it our very best shot and I can honestly say even looking at it now I wouldn't have changed a thing," said Taylor.
Executive Director of Marketing Stephanie Buckland said that Host was selected from a highly competitive field, based on their excellent submission and on a value for money assessment: "The rigorous two-stage tender process was designed to find the agency with the most outstanding and impactful marketing approach and the ability to deliver it within our budget," Buckland said.

Mummery comes to Telethon after heading up the programming and promotion of one of Australia's most successful FM radio stations, Austereo's MIX 94.5, where he is the Content Director for the station. MIX 94.5 has held the number 1 ratings position for a record 77 surveys for close to 10 years in Perth.
During his time at Austereo Mummery has instigated a number of fund raising activities that have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Telethon and a number of other charities. He is on the board of the Breast Cancer Foundation and he is also an accomplished businessman in his own right, owning and operating a successful franchise business in Perth with his partner.
Ray Wardrop, General Manager of Channel Seven Perth said: "Radio stations by nature are very promotionally orientated and need to constantly reinvent themselves to stay successful and Steve is demonstrably the best in the business at this. Telethon is an organisation that also needs to constantly evolve, both in its fundraising events and the annual 24 hour telecast and we see Steve as the best person for this role."
98 years of experience left the building when Peter Armstrong, Ken Bateman and Louise Street left The West Australian for the last time on Friday. The three celebrated the occasion with a gathering of family, close friends and workmates at The Vic Hotel on Friday night. Ken had been with The West for 40 years, Peter for 28 years and Louise for the past 20 years.

It's a case of deja vu for Rare, who lost Ryan Albuino to Marketforce in 2008 after he also came to prominence with some award-winning work for the agency. Mitchell moved from Vinten Browning to replace Albuino about 18 months ago.
of the npower Ashes telecast on SBS.
The netsite is now live.
The scale of the production demanded a cast that is a combo of professionals, CUB employees, punters straight off the street plus some well known faces. Keep an eye out for cameos from Michael Clarke, Wally Lewis, Paul De Gelder, Scott Cam, Molly Meldrum, Peter Russell Clarke, Dean Jones, Michael Klim, Billy Brownless and yes, Greg Evans.
The TVC is part of a much bigger campaign that includes VB's first ever dedicated brand website. There will also be print, radio, outdoor, on line and "The Regulars" will be brought to life in store through point of sale and refreshed packaging.
Marketforce has retrenched six people after the recent losses of LandCorp and SGIO. The retrenchments include account director Richard Beards and production manager Franca Pellegrini.
Marketforce recently lost its share of the LandCorp account when the state government land developer consolidated its business with The Brand Agency, and SGIO has centralised its marketing as part of a cost-cutting program by Sydney-based parent IAG.

Just on 90 employees at The West Australian have taken up the voluntary redundancies offered by WA Newspapers. Reports put the cost of these redundancies at nearly $14 million. Around 15-18 people within the Advertising department have taken redundancies with some senior, long-term employees including Peter Stevens, Ray Turner, Benita Dowding, Peter Armstrong and Matt Rosich among them.
The redundancy program is part of a major overhaul of The West's operations. It's still early days in the restructuring but it is understood former Community Newspaper Group sales manager David Bignold, who joined The West earlier this year, has been elevated to head the sales department and Andrew Sculthorpe will lead the WA agency sales team.

Marketforce has lost the SGIO business as a result of a 'corporate realignment' by parent company IAG that has seen the local marketing team disbanded.
It's the latest development in a cost-cutting program by IAG that aims to realise $130 million in savings across all its businesses including NRMA in NSW, Queensland and Tasmania, SGIC in South Australia and SGIO in WA.
Unconfirmed reports have suggested that SGIO will be no more than a call centre in WA.
Marketforce chairman John Driscoll said that their relationship with IAG was very strong and they had received great praise for their work on the brand but nevertheless the agency's work on SGIO will wind down as the new financial year starts.
It's the second time Marketforce has been the victim of a decision to centralise the business. It lost it to M&C Saatchi shortly after the NRMA was re-branded as IAG in 2002 but local marketing was returned to WA two years later after some inconsistent campaigns. IAG moved its account to STW in 2006.
