This is a top idea, really fun, relevant – and nicely executed. These are the kinds of one-offs that i’m happy to see in award shows- they’re inspiring. This print ad should’ve won the Caxton comp in my opinion.
As a keen poker player, this is very cool.
It’s nice but I only turn pages like that when I’m reading a porno.
Why did nobody at the Brand Agency think of this idea when it was their client? It is pretty obvious
you go all in with your 2 pair
and i say “suck my Queen 2”
then an ace comes on the river and you say “suck my boat”
Even with an ace the Queen would win, surely.
I’d put money on this doing well.
Love this idea. It seems to me the poker analysts out there are missing the Queen of Diamonds potential for a Royal Flush. About 2% chance – I’m in!
Beautiful simple concept, surprised no one’s done it before (myself included!!) I can see all the gamblers getting itchy feet right now…
I was in Las Vegas a long time ago and saw one of the best billboards I’ve ever seen,
It was a picture of a huge red heart.
The line said: “Do you see love, health or the ace of hearts?”
It was for Gamblers Anonymous.
Amazing.
You’re still behind with my bullets, but if this was my hand, 3 x pot if you have the other covered in heads up.
Which brings up, when is the next inter-agency poker tournament?
coolness
LOL @ 11:34…
Very true.

11.05 – The caxton’s haven’t happened yet and to win it has to run in a newspaper.
5.38.
I think 11.05 is from Perth and is referring to a local competition they have over there in which all the agencies do speculative ads to run in the West Australian newspaper. Search the WA site and you will find that this poker ad came second in this years competition. The winner gets to be run once in the paper (thereby making it eligible for awards) The West offer subsidised rates to get runners up and also-rans to run. The IKEA crossword ad and the IKEA Sliding doors ad in the current Caxtons finalists are both products of this competition.
Very cool 9.19.
Any chance we can get The West Australian to publish a newspaper over here? A newspaper that actually encourages great advertising in their publication. Now there’s an idea.
Yup. Perth is very lucky to have that competition and such a great supporter of creativity at The West in Les Corner.
bloody fantastic!
bloody brilliant!
good idea but poker is so 3 years ago.

One more “bloody” and you’ll be holding trips.
