Caxtons 2010 goes digital with free, custom-built app for iPhone and iPad – now on iTunes

The-Caxtons-app-launch.jpgThe Caxton Seminar and Awards 2010 today goes digital with the release of a new, custom-built app for the iPhone and iPad. Available now as a free download from iTunes and the Apple App Store, TheCaxtons app has a raft of features including seminar and awards info for the 2010 Caxtons weekend, the Campaign Brief blog, and a live Twitter stream – #caxtons.

The app has been designed to offer delegates at the Caxtons a new and interactive experience that can be accessed throughout the October 22-24 event at Noosa’s Quay West resort – and beyond.

Caxton Committee Chairman Rob Belgiovane said the development of The Caxtons app was an exciting innovation for the Caxtons weekend: “The digital era has changed the way we look at everything,” Belgiovane said.

“Adapting to change in media, technology and consumer socialisation is our primary objective in marketing right now – that’s what the Caxtons seminar is all about this year, and that’s why this is the perfect time for us to release our first Caxtons app,” he said.

The Caxtons app has been custom built by Tectonic Digital production in close collaboration with Caxtons sponsor The Newspaper Works, and Campaign Brief. (Tectonic Digital also built the CB Blog app and Bestads app).

The-Caxtons-app-screenshot-3.PNGSays Tectonic production director Richard De Nys: “We’ve produced The Caxtons app as a great way for those attending this year’s event to get even more closely involved with the seminar and awards via their iPhone or iPad.”

Campaign Brief will be making regular blog updates throughout the Caxtons 2010 weekend, while the app will also feature highlights from the presentations delivered by this year’s best-ever line-up of speakers.

One of the key interactive elements of The Caxtons app is its Twitter stream – anyone with a Twitter account who wants to tweet about The Caxtons 2010 just needs to include the hashtag #caxtons in their tweet for it to show in the app’s Twitter feed.

For the first time, the Caxton Awards 2010 will be streamed live via Twitter so that even those unlucky enough not to be at this year’s Caxtons weekend will be able to follow the seminars and the award ceremony ‘as it happens’ on Saturday evening.

The-Caxtons-app-screenshot-4.PNG“The Caxtons app will make it easy and fun for anyone with an iPhone or IPad to take part in what are sure to be lively – and probably pretty fiery – debates that will be an integral aspect of this fantastic weekend, and a great way for others to be ‘virtually there’,” Belgiovane said.

The 2010 Caxton Seminar will be held at the Quay West Noosa resort on October 22 to 24.
