Photographer Julian Wolkenstein allows you to become symmetrical through new application
Represented by LOUIS&CO, many of you have seen photographer Julian Wolkenstein’s symmetrical portraits in his folio. Several of you were curious about what you might look like if you were perfectly symmetrical.
Enter echoism.org, making people symmetrical since 11.1.11
Not content with just photographing people himself, Julian has developed an iphone app and a webcam app so that everyone can see themselves symmetrical.
At the core this is a self-directed portrait. You take an image ofyourself, and it turns you into 2 symmetrical lefts and 2 symmetricalrights. Are you more beautiful symmetrical, are you a left or rightsided brain person, which is your evil side? Everything from the wayyou interact with the program, to the lighting conditions, backgroundsand the beautiful low res nature of uploads, are all defining elements.
User generated? Ok echoism.org iscrowd-sourcing………and yes it lives “online”. It’s gone around Twitterand Facebook. It’s being blogged about right now. It’s reached mostcountries around the world.
So Julian’s well on his way to having the largest collection of symmetrical people in the world……..ever.

interesting. They all become more attractive once symmetrical.
Refreshing to see a photographer proactive while evolving with the times. Well done!
I like the one with the penis in it.
but I like penis, so, yeah.
I use Julian whenever I can. Great he’s moving into other digital realms. Nice to know that if all else fails you’re still one of the best in your field! Good luck to him.
Very clever bloke
Not just a brilliant snapper, but a man of ideas. Nice one, sir!
