This spot, via Deutsch, Los Angeles, features a pint-sized Darth Vader who uses the Force when he discovers the all-new 2012 Passat in the driveway.

Very sweet short film, with a great performance from Mini-Darth, for a completely crap looking car………
nice…
Well done.
I really don’t mean to put a damper on things – but what about this car is this ad actually trying to sell me?
Good performance, great production, nicely cut – but a long, generic bow between product and concept.
Or did I miss something?
Fantastic. This ad just crushed a bunch of 21st century beetles.
1:31.
The ad is selling you a car for around $20,000.
No need to communicate every single rational benefit that 30 seconds of airtime can handle.
Let a simple ad breathe.
I love it. It’s clever and funny, and I think VW are awesome because of it. Job done.
Love this and also the other car commercials shown at the Superbowl and linked on this site. But as we all know, if you present a script without lots of driving shots and even more features like ‘roll and tumble seats’ etc, clients here won’t buy it.
🙂
this is a cute, funny spot. But has absolutely nothing to do with the car.
Could’ve been little Darth switching on the tv/lights/anything with a remote control.
It won’t work for the product.
You nerds. Great commercial for VW. Get with it. Write something this good.
I think it is a lovely way to say you can remote start the engine of a VW.
Just done with gorgeous wit and humour.
Funny!, i pretend to use the force on automatic doors so i relate to the little fella.
nicely done….
I remember seeing something for a bread company in oz that had the same idea. Kid had school uniform on though, no darth vader suit. He does the jedi thing with his hands and the bus taxis off…??? What was that for? Wonder White maybe…
