The hires follow several new client acquisitions in 2012, including Leighton Properties, Brookfield’s City Square and Tourism WA.

“When Block first opened in 2002, it was perceived as a boutique agency competing against Western Australia’s biggest and most established agencies,” said Tanya Sim, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Block. “Over the past decade we’ve established ourselves as one of the top strategic agencies in Perth, so we’re delighted to kick off our 10th anniversary year with some great new business wins and staff hires.”

Nathan Teoh (top left) has joined Block as Senior Creative from Marketforce where he was Senior Graphic Designer and Art Director.

At Marketforce, he worked with clients including Cancer Council WA, The West Australian and City of Perth, and was part of the team behind the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure’s stunning ‘Horsepower’ TVC (August 2011).

Teoh also won Perth Art Directors Club’s Art Director of the Year in 2010 for his work on Mrs Mac’s ‘Lean Meat Crusty Top’ campaign, which was a viral hit. Prior to joining Marketforce, he was Senior Graphic Designer at PlayStation in London.

Maegan Brown (top right) joins Block as Junior Creative after winning Curtin University School of Design’s Graduate of the Year in 2011.

Block is also expanding its account services department with the appointment of Brody Macleod and Sanne Butterfield.

Macleod caught Block’s eye after winning the Premier’s Active Citizen Award in 2011 for her role as Arts Director at Beaufort Street Festival, which attracted 80,000 people last year. She joins Block as Account Executive.

Butterfield joins Block from Forge Media in Auckland, where she was Senior Account Manager managing clients including MARS Foodservices (Masterfoods, Uncle Ben’s, Dolmio), MARS Chocolate (Mars, M&Ms, Twix) and Unilver (Dove, Impulse, Lynx, Rexona).

In March 2012, Block announced its appointment as Leighton Properties’ branding, public relations and creative agency in Western Australia.

In the same month, Block was appointed by Brookfield to develop a campaign to promote Brookfield’s monumental CBD redevelopment, City Square in Perth. Brookfield is one of the biggest property and infrastructure asset management companies in the world with assets under management worth $150 billion globally.

Block has also been appointed to Tourism WA’s roster of design agencies.
