The Penguin Empire expands with new director

Award-winning new director Steve McCallum (left) has joined The Penguin Empire's roster of local directors.

Born and raised in Perth, McCallum cut his teeth on celebrated music videos for bands like Snowman and End Of Fashion. For the last couple of years he has been completing the highly regarded directing course at AFTRS.
 
While at AFTRS, he won 'The Exceptional Talent Award' & 'The AFTRS EU Scholarship'. He also made several short films and directed his first TVC - It's Time for GetUp Australia in support of ending marriage discrimination.
 
A viral sensation, that spot was seen by 5.3 million people around the world and received blog and news coverage globally.

Now back in Perth McCallum has jumped straight into TVC work and recently completed his first spot - Sashes - for the Office of Road Safety via Marketforce.
