Great story, beautifully told and directed.
When I was in my 20s I may have well said &%^$(.
Well I’m a Dad now… with a little girl… and it works a treat
Really nice work.
Bring me my bucket…
Beautiful. Classic DDB London.
Lovely. Bill would be proud.
As Andrew mention, hard not to love when you’re a dad with daughters.
That’s inspired me to make me a daughter.
As a dad with a little girl I love this spot.
I have daughter you has just got her first car. It did nothing for me. Predictable. Saw it coming a mile off and was waiting for the twist, which never came.
That Dad is hot
As a dad with a little girl I love this spot.
On paper this could have been unremarkable, formulaic and corny.
Yet it turned out to be truly beautiful.
Well done to the team for understanding the power this commercial would have, the CD for seeing the potential and supporting them, and the director for realising it so magnificently.
I shed a tiny tear.
My little boy turns 22 this week.
As both a parent and a creative. This bought a tear to my eye.Classic classy DDB
Oh, I should add in the harsh light of day, I’m not getting the fucker a Golf. He trashed the first car I gave him at 18!
Not one for the hipsters who are rolling their eye but for everyone else this is bang on a classy, classic story told bloody well. Great track, nice pictures, simple pay off.
Tear, meet eye. My little Miss 5 is at 23 seconds or so.
What I love about this is that it wouldn’t have looked much on paper. Well-worn strategy.
No real twists or surprises. Yet every time I watch it (and I’ve watched it many times now), it gets me.
That’s craft. Brilliant direction, perfect casting and inspired music choice.
Goes to show how much of an emotional connection you can still make with a beautifully told story based on a simple, human truth.
… if it had been made in Australia? Discuss.
It was made in Australia, by The Monkeys
