Perth Radio Survey 4/2012: 96FM takes #1 spot
After setting an Australian record of 100 surveys at number one, Mix 94.5 has lost top spot to 96fm in Nielsen Perth Metro Radio Survey 4, 2012 released yesterday.
96FM took the #1 position for People 10+ by the narrowest of margins - a 13.3 share compared to Mix 94.5's 13.2.
It's the first time since 1992 96FM has topped the ratings. It was a stellar survey for the station, which gained share across every demographic.
"This is a fantastic result for the entire team here at 96FM who have believed in the new programming strategy and have worked tirelessly to achieve the Number 1 position," said General Manager Martin Boylen (pictured). "We will continue to refine the radio station and deliver an on-air product that is innovative, compelling, relevant and enjoyable to our listeners".
96FM also took top spot in the 40-54 demographic, which has been the bedrock of MIX94.5's domination over the last decade.
There was some consolation for MIX 94.5 in the return of The Bunch to the #1 FM Breakfast spot after being pipped in Survey 3 by Nova 93.7's Breakfast team.
This latest survey continues a topsy-turvy year so far and underlines just how competitive the Perth radio market is.
