InMobi_Network_Research_Australia_Q2_2012.jpgInMobi, the largest independent mobile advertising network, released its latest Australian Mobile Insights Report today, revealing that tablet adoption is continuing to rise at an aggressive pace.

As predicted last quarter, the report shows a 34 per cent growth in tablet impressions across the Australian InMobi network over the last three months. A similar growth was experienced in New Zealand (78 per cent) indicating a strong upward trend in tablet usage across the Pacific region.

Apple and Samsung have also increased their manufacturer share over HTC and Blackberry, who have suffered losses. Apple now commands 65 per cent of the manufacturer mix, followed by Samsung at 12 per cent and HTC at 6 per cent. As a result of this, Apple’s iOS has increased its lead over the Android operating system, holding 65 per cent of the market share compared to Andorid’s 25 per cent.

Says Francisco Cordero, general manager and regional director of InMobi Australia and New Zealand: “There is a very direct link between the developments we have seen in the tablet and mobile markets over the last three months and what our data shows. Tablets are seeing exponential growth due to reduced retail prices and richer web browsing experiences achieved by the larger screen format. Furthermore, Samsung and Apple are completely dominating manufacturer shares since the arrival of the Apple iPhone 4S, new iPad and Samsung Galaxy S3.

“With the introduction of new tablets to the market, including the Microsoft Surface and Google’s Nexus 7, and reports that Apple will launch a mini iPad, we expect tablet impressions to double by this time next year from 290 million to 580 million.”

Earlier this year, InMobi opened a second Australian office in Melbourne, helping it serve over 1.9 billion ads in Australia between April and June this year.
