Meerkats takes out Best of Show and Marketforce co-creative directors Pat Lennox and Ben Green win The West Fellowship at the PADC Awards

PADC12_L.jpgPADC14_L.jpgMeerkats picked up the Best of Show gong for their Lotterywest "Give Luck a Chance" television commercial at Friday night's PADC Awards held at Frasers in Kings Park. The spot, directed by Richard Bullock, also won a Gold in the Television and Film category.

The commercial tells the story of one young man's cycle of life. The story reminds us that there is always an element of luck in what happens to us but that we also have to be willing to take chances when opportunities come our way.


Marketforce was also a big winner on the night, dominating the print categories and walking off with The West Australian Fellowship for their work on Crimestoppers. The "It's a Steal" print ad was created by agency co-creative directors Pat Lennox and Ben Green (pictured in the bottom pic with chairman of judges Craig Davis from Publicis Mojo Australia) who win a trip to next year's Cannes Advertising Festival as part of the Fellowship.
In addition to the Best of Show a total of five Gold awards were hand out across all 52 award categories.

RAC_Vultures_Blog.jpgGold winners were RAC "Vultures" by The Brand Agency; Squooshi Packaging by Block Branding; Lotterywest "Give Luck a Chance" by Meerkats; RWWA Player "Tribute" by 303Lowe; and Crimestoppers "It's a Steal" by Marketforce.

In total, and excluding craft awards, Marketforce lead all agencies with a Gold, 3 Silvers and 4 Bronze. Meerkats won a Gold, 3 Silver and 1 Bronze. The Brand Agency's haul included a Gold and Silver award along with 5 Bronze. Block Branding won one Gold, Silver and Bronze award. 303Lowe won Gold and 2 Bronze. Cooch Creative won 3 Silvers and 2 Bronze awards. Rare picked up 2 Silvers and a Bronze. Gatecrasher and Longtail each scored a Silver.

"The night was an unprecedented success," said PADC President, Spencer Battista. "This year, we were aiming to set a new standard in both the calibre of entries received and prestige attached to the award ceremony. I am thrilled we were able to achieve this."

"The calibre of the 2012 PADC Award ceremony was achieved in large part due to the excellent support of our sponsors, to whom we are extremely grateful," Battista said.
