Adshel donates $700k of nationwide outdoor advertising to three charities this festive season

ADSHEL_XMAS_EMAIL2.jpgIn the spirit of Christmas, Adshel is giving all their clients and business partners the opportunity to help donate $700,000 of outdoor advertising space to three charities.

From December 10th to December 24th, Adshel will ask its network of clients and suppliers to vote, via a Facebook app, which of the following charities they would like to support – R U OK Day, Open Families Australia and Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children. The votes will be then tallied and the charity with the highest number of donations will be given a two week nationwide advertising space worth $400,000. The two other nominated charities will also receive advertising space donations of $200,000 and $100,000 respectively. Voting will close midnight 24 December 2012, and winners announced in the new year.

Now in its fourth year, the Adshel Christmas promotion highlights the importance of giving amongst the advertising community, and celebrates the efforts of charities across Australia and New Zealand.

Says Nicole McInnes, director of marketing at Adshel: “We take our commitment to the community very seriously. There are so many not-for-profit organisations doing great work who struggle to be heard. We have an extensive national network of out-of-home advertising space, and this is one of the best communication mediums to generate awareness and engage consumers. It is our hope that by providing free access to our out-of- home assets, we will help charities gather support from the public.”

Says Elise Meakin, RSPCA Australia communications and campaigns manager: “Providing RSPCA with an opportunity to generate awareness and put the charity front of mind was a wonderful Christmas gift from Adshel. We were lucky enough to have received close to $100,000 in free Adshel media space last year which has really helped generate community awareness about the importance of getting layer hens out of cages.”

This year, Adshel has supported over eleven not-for-profit organisations, donating more than $1 million worth in media space throughout the year. The Christmas campaign closely follows the Adshel Creative Challenge, which saw the best talents in Melbourne gather to come up with an effective out-of-home advertising campaign to help not-for-profit organisation, Step Back Think, with its anti-violence message. In June, Adshel also supported the efforts of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation during its annual Gold Week Telethon to reach an outstanding $2.61 million in donations.

Says McInnes: “Throughout this year, we have proactively looked for opportunities to provide our support for charities and community organisations that need a voice. We’ve always had a very enthusiastic response from our partners and community for the Christmas Giving campaign, and we hope this year will be no different. All three charities – R U OK Day, Open Families Australia and Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children- contribute tremendously to the community and we are delighted to be able to support them in some way.”

Adshel will be sending out an eDM to all clients, suppliers and contacts across the business to ask each person to select which charity they would like to see receive the heavy-weight donation.
