TThe Disappointed.jpghe Disappointed (left) and Moana (below) are two of the six local bands that Youngbloods and JumpClimb believe have the potential to be famous.

Youngbloods' Make a Band Famous competition gives you the opportunity to work on a dream brief and push yourself creatively outside the boundaries of work and university.

The Disappointed launched their "pop gem" (Gemma Pike, Triple J), Dirt Farmer in May and have picked up national airplay on Triple J and have supported Perth's Emperors, Adelaide's Dexter Jones plus played shows all over WA.

The Disappointed play a harmony-laden blend of jagged new wave, lush pop and epic post rock. Expect thought provoking humanist odes to life's grey areas, top shelf hooks, accomplished song writing and an ambitious blend of light and dark. Dave Parkin (Emperors, Jebediah) produced debut EP that is due to drop in 2013.

Moana.jpgMoana is a spell-binding young lady infuses sparse evocative guitar with a divine untamed voice. A bundle of contradictions, Moana's sound will simultaneously punch you in the face then lull you into a gentle spell. All in the blink of an eye. Her live performances are always earnest, raw, energetic and shatteringly hypnotic, evoking a steely strength behind an eyelash-batting shyness.

Growing up in Gracetown to the soundtrack of Muddy Waters, Etta James and Fleetwood Mac, Moana has crafted a catalogue of songs that feed on love, longing and the magic hidden in the everyday. Far from traditional song-writing, her creative process dabbles in drumming on car steering-wheels & bedroom walls, endless impulsive babbling over simple guitar picks and discovering melodies during long walks through city streets.

The winning teams will be announced at Youngbloods' first gig of 2013 on February 22 at Geisha Bar, Northbridge Everyone's invited to this party, so keep watch at facebook.com/Youngbloods.WA for ticket information, application forms and more details.
