Southern Cross Austereo hosts the WA Youngbloods for a big rooftop Mexican Fiesta
The national radio company, which owns Perth's 92.9FM and Mix 94.5, frequently hosts events for senior advertising executives in WA but wanted to show its support for the young professionals its sales team does business with.
SCA General Manager Linda Wayman said it was important to recognise the emerging talent in the advertising industry.
"SCA works very closely with other sectors of the communications
industry, particularly advertising, and every day our team interacts
with talented young professionals with creative and fresh new ideas," Ms
Wayman said.
"They are often overlooked in favour of more senior executives for networking events, but we see the importance in giving younger people opportunities to mingle outside of their normal circles to foster strong relationships that will benefit them in building their careers.
"Emerging high-achievers can purchase tickets to networking events, but we decided to celebrate their talent with an exclusive, free event designed with their future careers in mind.
"These are the guys who will be the next advertising leaders in WA and as a broadcaster committed to upholding strong relationships within the communications industry, it is in our best interest to support them."
The Roberts Road rooftop was transformed into a colourful Mexican fiesta, complete with piƱata, to create a fun, carefree and unintimidating networking environment.
About 100 guests aged under 30 years attended the event, hand-picked from some of the state's most prominent advertising and media buying agencies.
Guests were members of the Communications Council's WA 'Youngbloods' and held positions with companies including 303 Lowe, Adcorp, Marketforce, OMD and The Brand Agency. The luckiest was James Woods, who won a Cable Beach holiday package as a door prize.

Great event!
Lucky guy! Which agency is James from, I need to be that plus 1.
This is what's great about Perth. It is still the same as it was ten years ago. And will probably still be in ten years' time. Want new business? Have a themed party. Want to say thank you to clients? Have a themed party. Want to celebrate the next generation of Perth Creatives. Have a themed party. That hats change. The faces change. But the approach stays the same. Good on you guys for (literally) keeping the party going.
Woodsy! He's from Bell Booth, pumps out some great work. Congrats mate.
