Firstlight's Bruce Flint takes flight to South Africa
Bruce Flint, one of Perth's top post-production editors, is heading to South Africa to compete in the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon at the end of March. The race takes place every year in Cape Town and is known as the worlds most beautiful ultra marathon. Flint is not unfamiliar to ultra distance sport events and has completed various full distance Ironmen and 90km running races, but all that was quite a few years back, before Perth lulled him into beach, booze and barbie's.
Flint said, "The fantastic distractions Perth is blessed with, have
constantly remonstrated with my training programme. It is extremely
challenging to run 60-80km a week and not pass by a bar on route.
Unfortunately, all too often these bars won the day." "In my pursuit of avoiding these afore mentioned distractions I spent a fair amount of time training in the hills around Mundaring and Jarradale, but these areas too have some pretty good pubs."
"I am hoping the organisers of Two Oceans take into account these potential distractions and make sure the route goes past Nunneries, Convents, Art Galleries, Theatres and Potato farms. Then I might actually make the finish".
