GPY&R Melbourne most nominated Australian agency at Webby Awards with six noms ahead of McCann with four + M&C Saatchi/Mark with three

Mob Medic.jpgGeorge Patterson Y&R Melbourne has emerged as the strongest Australian contender at the international Webby Awards, with six nominations ahead of McCann Australia who received four and M&C Saatchi/Mark with three.

 

The Webbys, recognised by the New York Times as the “Internet’s Highest Honour”, recognises excellence on the Internet across a number of categories including websites, social, mobile and apps.

optimized_3000000000008558.jpgThis year, the Webbys received more than 11,000 entries from 65 countries around the world. From the thousands of entries submitted to The Webby Awards, only seven percent of entries were nominated for an award.

 

GPY&R Melbourne’s multi-award winning “Mobile Medic” campaign for Defence Force Recruiting is nominated across three categories – Best Use of Device Camera, Mobile & Experience Marketing and Augmented Reality.

 

Nominations were also received in the Best Visual Design category for the Air Force Paper Baron mobile game, Employment category for the Navy Triton Storm website and the Email Marketing category for Air Force Priority Roles eCRM.

M&C Saatchi’s ‘Build With Chrome’ campaign for Google received nominations in Best Online Campaign, Best Use images.jpgof Online Media and Best Visual Design categories.

 

Other Australian agencies that have been nominated included The Monkeys for its OAK Reverse Robberies campaign in the Reality category; Havas Worldwide Australia & One Green Bean’s ‘Fair Go Bro’ campaign for Virgin Mobile Australia in dougpitt-thumb-400x215-80929.jpgthe Integrated Campaigns category and MercerBell’s “Fists of Fusian” for Maggi Noodles in the Online Film & Video – Video Remixes/Mashup category.

 

The Monkeys has also picked up three honoree distinctions, awarded to less than 15% of work entered to each category, for OAK Reverse Robberies (Best Use of Social Media); Intel: The Ultrabook Temptations (Branded Entertainment Short Form) and Ice Break Drag Race ‘Em (Promotions & Contests category).

Mercerbell picked up an honoree distinction for MasterCard “Priceless Sydney” campaign in the Interactive Advertising & Media – Banner Campaigns category.

Melbourne based brand and communications agency, TANK Branding was also nominated in the Charitable Organisations/Not-for-Profit category for the design of the NT Mojos website.  

Winners will be announced on Wednesday 22nd May in a ceremony in New York.
