gareth.jpgThe Communications Council’s Account Planning Group will hold its second biannual Planning Idol Awards on 25th October, with the deadline for entries set for the 25th September.

Unlike other awards programs, APG Planning Idol is not linked to case studies. Creating a level playing field, a brief set, based on a significant social issue, which poses a simple challenge. The differentiator is the quality of the thinking demonstrated in those responses. This year’s brief is a fundraising challenge set by The United Nations to support those affected by the Syrian conflict.

Round one will be judged by the APG Committee of Planning Directors from creative and media agencies, with round two assessments led by an APG panel, representatives of the UN, and chief strategy officer at Goodby Silverstein & Partners (USA), Gareth Kay (left), who will chair the judges.

Says Russ Mitchinson, APG Chairman: “It can take a long time before a young planner is handed the reins for a strategic brief like those set by APG Planning Idol – it is a unique and exciting opportunity to demonstrate to some of the best strategic thinkers in the industry what entrants are capable of…and everybody has an equal chance at winning.”

Submissions can be made by individuals or pairs, though all entrants must be current APG members and under 30 years of age at 25th September.
