Ben_Akerss.jpgJonathon_Kneebone.1.jpgEmergence Creative Festival, Western Australia’s premier creative festival, is set to take place in Margaret River in five weeks, from 19 to 21 February 2014.

Emergence Creative Festival is a conference with a difference, a unique three-day event themed the ‘currency of creativity’, held at iconic venues across Margaret River. Featuring speakers from around the globe exploring the ever increasing value of creativity and its role – now and in the future – in driving business, innovation, communication, education and the economy.

This year’s headline speakers include Hollywood musical supervisor PJ Bloom (Glee, Game of Thrones, Nip/Tuck, American Horror Story), UK production company Warp Films CEO Mark Herbert (BAFTA-winning films This is England, Dead Man’s Shoes, Four Lions, Tyrannosaur, Submarine, Kill List), communications expert Carolyn Miller from ABC’s Gruen Planet, award-winning creative director Ben Akers (top, left) from The Republic of Everyone and Jonathon Kneebone (top, right), writer/director from The Glue Society.

The event provides the ultimate platform for creatives and innovators working in the advertising, film, music, communications, design or digital industries to bring ideas to life, develop new partnerships and work in an inter-disciplinary environment, opening new gateways of learning.
Spanning the three days will be workshops, master classes, screenings of innovative content, breakfasts, live music performances, winery dinners and even a surfing competition, providing fantastic opportunities to network with like-minded creative and tech professionals.

The festival will take place across five iconic and picturesque venues in Margaret River, including the main conference venue, the Vasse Felix Art Gallery as well as The White Elephant, Settlers Tavern and Leeuwin Estate, which will host the Gala Dinner.

The inaugural 2013 event attracted high profile, successful creative professionals to the speaker panel including LA-based producer Mike Rosenstein from Ben Stiller’s production company, Red Hour Films, The Gruen Transfer’s Adam Ferrier, jet-setting commercial and film director Richard Bullock, co-founder and director from London-based ‘digital creativity initiative’ OneDotZero Shane Walter and legendary venture capitalist and ‘kite boarding king of Silicon Valley’ Bill Tai.

Emergence Creative was founded by Creative Corner, a not-for-profit organization which promotes the creative industries living in the southwest, the concept of decentralized creative living and collaboration of the creative sectors.

Says Georgia Stewart, festival event manager: “Some of the world’s brightest minds are being flown in to WA to share their career experiences and inspire attendees on how they can bring their new ideas to life. What’s most unique about Emergence is that it’s set in such an inspiring location – just ask the huge creative community which is alive and well in Margaret River. If you’re ready to rejuvenate your creative mind and you work in advertising, film, music, communications, design or anything vaguely digital, Emergence is definitely for you.”

Emergence Creative Festival is proudly supported by Screenwest, Lotterywest, South West Regional Development Commission and the Department of Culture and the Arts.
