The 15th annual Australian Screen Sound Awards recognizes the excellence of professionals in the Australian Sound Industry and were held in Sydney last Friday night with Australia’s top sound designers, foley artists, mixers and engineers in attendance.

The three took out the coveted Best Achievement in Sound for a Television Commercial or Program award for the TVC produced through Whybin/TBWA, Melbourne and was directed by Brendan Williams ACS from 8 Commercials.

Regatta Studios was tasked with writing the score and creating the sound design for the spot, with Music and Effects being responsible for the final cinema sound mix.

“Being a tourism spot for the Tasmanian Government gave us the opportunity to write for, and work with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra which was absolutely mind blowing.  A special thanks goes to everyone involved with the project at the TSO and ABC Hobart who did a great job ensuring we got the recording we wanted,” says Arnold.

“Working with Doron was also an experience which we’ll never forget,” adds Collier of their award-winning piece.

This marks the second time Regatta Studios has won first place in the Australian Screen Sound Awards. The first was in 2009 for Queensland Transport TVC, Lone Driver.

Adds Arnold: “To win in 2009 was such an amazing achievement and to win it again this year is confirmation of our ability and commitment to success for our clients and advertisers – a lot of work goes into a piece such as this and it’s great to be recognized by our peers – the best sound professionals in the country.”
