hollands_mark.jpgCall for Entries will open for the Advertising & Marketing Awards on February 24 2014 with new categories and criteria. Entries close on April 4 and finalists will be announced on June 23.

The Newspaper Works has combined its highly successful annual Ad Awards with the Marketing category of the Newspaper of the Year awards, and category segmentation will now occur by readership, as defined by emma and The Newspaper Works for members around the Asia-Pacific.

Says Mark Hollands, The Newspaper Works chief executive: “The Advertising & Marketing Awards better reflect newspaper media across all platforms. The new-look categories and criteria are based on readership rather than circulation, illustrating the industry’s transformation to a balance of print and digital assets. We anticipate the changes will resonate positively with the industry as we seek to recognise and celebrate advertising and marketing campaigns used by the publishing industry.

“This new program allows us to recognise the outstanding talent and work that is reshaping how newspapers market and sell themselves to readers, advertising and media agencies.”

The Advertising categories recognise publishers’ in-house work only, while both agency and in-house executions are eligible for the Marketing categories.

Says Hollands: “Our revamp of the Advertising & Marketing Awards coincides with our review of The Newspaper of the Year Awards which will also feature new categories and criteria when entries open in May.”

Winners will be announced on August 20, at the end of day one of the Future Forum, to be held at The Establishment Ballroom in Sydney. The Newspaper of the Year Awards remains as a Gala Dinner on August 21 at Ivy Ballroom, Sydney.
