johnson_detail.JPGADMA and Campaign Brief are set to host a webinar with Anomaly founder Carl Johnson on Friday, May 23 from 9.00am-9.30am AEST.

The man behind the innovative agency Anomaly will talk about the company’s unique business model in an ADMA Unplugged webinar to be held later this week in conjunction with Campaign Brief.

ADMA CEO Jodie Sangster will interview Johnson about how Anomaly staff think as businesspeople and act as clients, their innovation and incubation process, and how they create new business models.

Anomaly is a new model agency that goes beyond offering traditional marketing and advertising services by developing and investing in new ideas, products and properties. These include Avec Eric, a joint venture with Eric Ripert, head chef and co-owner of Le Bernardin that includes a successful cooking show on PBS; eos, a venture in global skin and beauty care, and Sirqul, a strategic partnership with one of the world’s leading mobile development platforms.

Johnson is responsible for the guardianship and evolution of Anomaly’s proposition in an ever-changing, sometimes turbulent, increasingly complex industry — ensuring that Anomaly remains compelling and stimulating as the agency, now with offices in New York, Toronto, London, Amsterdam and Shanghai, continues to scale internationally.

Johnson is also the chairman of Effie Worldwide, helping champion the practice and practitioners of effective marketing.

Prior to founding Anomaly, Johnson was the COO of TBWA\Worldwide and CEO of its New York office – TBWA/Chiat/Day. Whilst there he drove both growth and change, and more importantly, introduced the practice of ‘Connections Planning’, arguably the first new industry discipline since the advent of planning. In addition, Johnson created an innovative climate that attracted talented professionals and inspired and facilitated their ability to flourish.

Prior to moving to the U.S., Johnson had founded (and subsequently sold) Simons Palmer Clemmow Johnson in the UK  —  one of the most awarded and respected agencies of its time —  with clients including Nike, Sony PlayStation, Virgin, British Telecom, and News Corporation.
