YMOTYYCOTY_seewhereitcantakeyou.jpgA trip to New York’s adland is awaiting two people aged under 30 who work in the marketing, advertising or creative fields, with ADMA and its 30 Below network announcing the opening of their 2014 Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year competitions today.

Deadline to enter is Friday, 1 August 2014 (no extensions).

Says Jodie Sangster, ADMA CEO: “This is a most exciting time to be in our industry. We want as many young people from around Australia as possible to enter our competition. It’s essential to reward, support and inspire young talent in our industry as they’re the future of marketing and advertising. The ADMA Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year competitions are about providing a window into where a career in the industry might take you in the future – literally anywhere in the world.”

Visit www.seewhereitcantakeyou.com.au to enter, learn more, or nominate someone you work with, and follow the fun on Twitter at #MYDREAMCARD. Entrants need to showcase their marketing and creative talents and demonstrate what makes them stand out from the crowd.

Young Marketer is judged on their career achievements to date and Young Creative on artistic talents demonstrated in developing a campaign concept which can be used to promote the ADMA Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year competitions the following year.

Says Sangster: “Seeing your concepts come to life is something all creatives visualise and value. And this is one that gets to be seen by the entire marketing and advertising industry.”

The winners receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City in April 2015 to meet leading luminaries at top agencies like R/GA, Anomaly, Merkle Inc. and OgilvyOne. There is also a tour of Google Creative Lab, plus the opportunity to visit some well-known New York landmarks, restaurants and bars.

How this year’s campaign works on Facebook

This year, ADMA Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year will be launched with the award-winning campaign created by Tony Simmons, art director at The Brand Agency Melbourne. Simmons was awarded 2013 ADMA Young Creative of the Year for his campaign See Where It Can Take You, which features an innovative custom app that sends your Facebook profile into the future, mapping out a unique career path for the competition winner.

Says Simmons: “Facebook is the looking glass through which most of us see the world. So it seemed natural to send profiles into the future and show where ADMA Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year could take aspiring creatives and marketers. My original idea is now its own campaign, and has taken me to New York, so I encourage every young creative and marketer to have a go and enter.”

The Brand Agency Melbourne developed the custom app that draws on personal information from the ADMA database and Facebook to create the experience. Account manager Erin Muldoon drove the development of the integrated campaign that combines traditional direct mail, eDMs and print to create unique, engaging and award-winning advertising.

ADMA has also created a Pinterest board of current and past Young Marketer and Young Creative winners to interest people in the campaign. Click here to view it.

The ADMA Young Marketer and Young Creative of the Year competitions are sponsored by Telstra and supported by The Brand Agency. This year’s campaign combines the smarts of digital and print working together with the help of ADMA’s print partner, Blue Star. The 2014 winners will be announced at the ADMA Awards Gala Dinner on Thursday, 30 October 2014 at The Star, Pyrmont.

Local Australian partners with New York offices have approved the use of their brands to be used as part of this campaign. These are brands that youth aspire to, and recognise as best-in-breed brands. ADMA thanks Anomaly, OgilvyOne, MTV, ESPN and eBay for their support.
