The 30 best ads from Campaign Brief's 30 years. 1998: Keep Australia Beautiful 'Dead Animals'

KABC_DeadAnimals_BLOG.jpgCampaign Brief WA turns 30 this month, so over the thirty days of June we're looking back and choosing the best ad done in each of our 30 years.

Easy. This is one of the best ads ever made in WA - 'Dead Animals' for the Keep Australia Beautiful Council by JDA. It was created by Matt Cullen and Gary Tranter (we told you yesterday they were white-hot), and shot by up-an-coming production company Cyclops Films.

It was Perth's first winner at Cannes - a Bronze. It also caused a minor sensation when it went to air. Of course, the sight of dead animals hitting the ground instead of the litter being tossed away upset a lot of people, but its impact was undeniable.

Honourable mentions to two print ads: Norfolk Estate 'Flippers', also by JDA (Jason Schragger & Tony Williams), and Cancer Foundation 'Shoes'  by Marketforce (Adam Barker & Lori Canalini).

'Flippers' was a finalist at Cannes and a sign of things to come for Schragger. He went on to a stellar career in Singapore, Amsterdam, Berlin and is now Chief Creative Officer at Saatchi & Saatchi Los Angeles.
