3AW outdoor 2.jpgFairfax Radio Network’s 2014/2015 summer of cricket is set to be its biggest yet, with an outstanding expert commentary team bolstered by new additions: Australian cricket superstar Glenn McGrath, fastbowler Carl Rackemann, and all-rounder Tom Moody. The trio joins Ian Chappell, Dean Jones, Damien Fleming, Greg Matthews, John Emburey and Mickey Arthur, as well as Bruce Eva and Tim Lane, to make up Fairfax Radio Network’s unrivalled commentary team.

The multi-platform campaign to run in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, was developed by Fairfax Radio Network. It focuses on the expertise of Fairfax Radio Network’s commentary team, bringing cricket fans the dedicated coverage and analysis from Australia’s summer cricket season.

The campaign features network’s expert commentary team and headlines such as “Commentary with bite”, “Opinions and opinionated” and “We’ve picked our team for the summer” to promote cricket coverage on 2UE, 3AW, 4BC and 6PR.

Says Nick Randall, national sales director, Fairfax Radio Network: “Our network’s summer of cricket is set to be bigger and better than 2013/2014. Our talented commentary team will bring listeners the cricket they want, while advertisers will be able to reach a captivated local and national audience.

“Cricket is undoubtedly Australia’s biggest sport over summer, and Fairfax Radio Network celebrates this heritage and tradition by bringing listeners the most comprehensive cricket coverage.”

Year two of this landmark five year broadcast deal will see Fairfax Radio Network broadcast the four Test matches (Australia vs India), all One Day Internationals, Big Bash League (BBL) and the recently concluded International T20 matches, providing sports fans unprecedented access to live cricket.  Fairfax Radio Network will have the most comprehensive live coverage on radio, broadcasting all formats of the game.

The summer of cricket advertising campaign will include a significant outdoor campaign, together with print and digital ads across The Sydney Morning Herald, Sun Herald and The Age, The Australian Financial Review, WAToday and Brisbane Times.

Fairfax Radio Network has a five-year broadcast rights agreement for the Australian cricket seasons that deliver the most comprehensive radio broadcast coverage of live cricket in Australia.

For the summer ahead, Australia will be aiming to improve its No. 2 ranking in Test cricket, and begin its preparations for the Cricket World Cup in 2015. Australia played South Africa in three T20s and will play five one-day internationals, India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in a four Test series, and then England and India in a one-day international Tri-Series.

The national campaign will run throughout the cricket season.
