Student Edge sees record growth in Q1 2015 – opportunity for brands to reach lucrative market

perth_SEmembers.jpgStudent Edge, Australia’s leading member-based organisation of high school and tertiary students, has achieved record-breaking growth in 2015, with more benchmarks to cross over the coming quarter.

For the first time since Student Edge’s inception, new member signups in New South Wales and Victoria outnumber those from Western Australia by 350 per cent.

There remain a vast array of opportunities for brands to communicate their products, services and messages to students aged 12 to 25 across Australia, online and via its Outreach teams or member events.

This rapid national growth led to the crossing of the 710,000 member threshold in early 2015.

March also saw record-breaking visits for the site, with more than 900,000 page views over the 31-day-period.

The company was founded by Western Australian university graduates in 2003 and has long been a household name in its home state.

However, in 2014, 80 per cent of new members came from outside of WA, based almost solely on word-of-mouth amongst students.

For the remainder of 2015, Student Edge is making a concerted effort to extend its brand presence and engage with more students than ever before.

April saw the expansion of Student Edge’s Schools Outreach program to New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, assisting in the projected target of 100 high school visits across the country in 2015.

In addition, exclusive member-only movie previews have been rolled out to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, as well as continuing in Perth.

A recent investment in editorial content has also enhanced member engagement, and in five months driven more than 7,000 written content submissions from students for publishing consideration.

Student Edge’s general manager – members & marketing, Choon Tan, believes the growth in membership outside of Western Australia indicates an increasing national engagement with the brand.

Says Tan: “Clearly the massive uptick of new subscribers from the Eastern states is proof that young Aussies are seeking an organisation that not only represents them, but has their back.

“Student Edge, with our member deals, competitions, careers advice and Outreach programs, answers that call.”
