Blue_Balls.jpgThe One Club has announced a shortlist for the 43rd Annual One Show Awards. There were 186 shortlisted entries from nearly 50 agencies in 19 countries across eight disciplines: Cross-Platform, Film, Interactive, Mobile, Social Media, UX/UI, Branded Entertainment and Radio.

Eight entries have made the cut from Australia with Marketforce Perth in the lead with three finalists: City of Perth, ‘Eat. Drink. Perth. Tasty Tunes’; Curtain University ‘School of Pharmacy’ and iiNet Limited ‘NBN Buffering’. M&C Saatchi Sydney/Bang PR/Digital Playground LA have scored two finalists for Blue Ball Foundation ‘Game of Balls’. Plaza Films’ Hardys Wine ‘Proud Sponsors’ work with McCann Central Birmingham has been shortlisted once as well as Leo Burnett Melbourne’s ‘Slurpee Sound Cups’ for 7-Eleven and The Works Sydney’s ‘Ultimate Death Scene’ for Sea Shepherd.

The shortlist includes submissions from the third quarter of The One Show’s quarterly entry system, which was introduced this year, excepting Branded Entertainment and Radio, which includes shortlists for the first three quarters.  The One Show’s final deadline is January 29.

Shortlisted entries advance to the final round of judging, which takes place in March, for a chance to win a One Show Pencil.

Says Kevin Swanepoel, chief executive officer of The One Club, the non-profit that produces The One Show, Creative Week and several diversity and education programs: “The quarterly entry system helps judges and entrants alike. Work judged in multiple rounds means that judges see work when it’s fresh and topical. Judging in rounds also minimizes judging fatigue by presenting entries in batches instead of in bulk. The result is the highest quality creative work in the world.”

Last year, The One Show received 20,000 entries from agencies in 65 countries.

One Show Creative Week takes place May 9-13 at various New York locations, including Cipriani Wall Street.
