PADC_Tranter_BLOG_11.jpgPerth ex-pat and 2017 Skulls Chairman of Judges Gary Tranter was the special guest at a Breakfast hosted by the PADC at The Subi Hotel yesterday.

A Curtin graduate, Tranter talked about his career from his early days at John Davis Advertising, where he co-created Perth's first ever Cannes Lions winner, to his extensive work throughout Asia with Batey Ads, Ogilvy and latterly his own agency, Arcade, which has offices in Singapore, Jakarta and Tokyo.

Tranter said the two characteristics of Perth that had stood him in good stead throughout his journey were resourcefulness - because budgets here meant you had to find ways to get good work done - and fearlessness - people here were prepared to back their judgement.
Without giving too much away, Tranter said the jury had been very impressed with the entries for the 2017 Skulls. He said there were some stand-out pieces that showed great confidence in their Western Australian-ness, and that were refreshing in their authenticity. Indications are it will be a bumper year for Skulls awards.

The 2017 Skulls will be presented on Friday, November 10 at the State Reception Centre, Frasers Kings Park.
