Gold! Gold! Gold! at the 2017 PADC Skulls with 303 MullenLowe, J Walter Thompson, Gatecrasher and Juicebox leading the pack; Royal Life Saving 'Passwords With A Purpose' named Best of Show

There was a gold rush at Fraser's Kings Park on Friday night as the 2017 PADC Skulls were presented for the best of WA commercial creativity.

The highest number of entries in four years saw 15 Gold Skulls awarded (plus 1 'automatic' for Best of Show), along with 20 Silvers and 43 Bronzes.

The big winner this year was 303MullenLowe's Passwords With A Purpose for Royal Life Saving WA. It won Gold in Out Of Home and Experiential, a Craft Gold for Photography for Elizabeth Looker, and was named Best of Show. The agency also won Gold for Road Safety Commission Could Be Cometti.

J Walter Thompson won 2 Gold Skulls for Parkinson's NSW The Hold (written by Perth CD Paul Coghlan) and 3 for its WA Police Union It's Tough Enough campaign. It was an especially good night for the agency's Tim Newton and Wilora Keeley. Besides three Golds for their WA Police Union work, they won the inaugural White Horse Award, the renamed Southern Cross Austereo Radio Writers Award with a $20,000 cash prize.
Their winning spot was for the WA Police Union titled Triple Zero. It was produced by Brainestorm's Nick Gallagher, who won Producer of the Year, and Brainestorm was named Production Studio of the Year, having produced 10 of the 21 finalists.

Gatecrasher won 2 Gold Skulls for Cancer Council Stick it to No.2.

Juicebox won 2 for Feral Brewing Brewed By Instinct, including a Craft Gold for Copywriting.

Marketforce won 1 for WA Electoral Commission Darklord, and Meerkats won 1 Gold for Synergy Future House.

A honorary Gold Skull was presented to PADC Patron Gavin Bain, for his outstanding contribution to the Club.

The night was brilliantly MC'd by comedian Urzila Carlson, who managed to keep the audience under control through all the awards and delivered a couple of hilarious stand-up routines at the beginning of each segment.
