Carat Perth MD Adam Marshall (pictured) has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Marketforce/OMD, in a move that agency owners Clemenger BBDO said is set to re-shape the advertising landscape in Perth.

He succeeds Paul Everingham, who left suddenly in February.

Marketforce/OMD Chairman Jim Gall announced Marshall's appointment today, citing his record for creating and driving sustained business and marketing investment in WA.

"I am thrilled to announce that Adam will be joining us in June to lead our business in Perth," said Gall.  "Adam's extensive experience in both creative and media environments are rare. He has the unique complement of skills, knowledge and energy to drive greater integration, innovation and collaboration."

"There is no doubt Marketforce has been a bastion for creativity in Western Australia for many years and there is much to be proud of, however today's fast moving, highly fragmented media and technology market requires a more seamless content, analytics, data and channel planning model to remain relevant."
"This is a new era for Marketforce/OMD that brings with it the most powerful integrated agency offering in Perth, backed by the data and analytics capability of the Omnicom and Clemenger Group networks."

"This is a definite signal that we are investing locally in WA with the best people, technologies and intellectual property to drive better business outcomes for clients," added Gall.

The announcement follows the appointment of Paul Coghlan as Chief Creative Officer just two weeks ago and rounds out a complete management overhaul of the business. Clemenger Group Executive Chairman Robert Morgan said Coghlan and Marshall represent a formidable combination of creativity and new age advertising thinking.

"In Adam and Paul, we have Agency leaders who understand how to combine brilliant creativity with new technologies to deliver highly effective communications. They also know each other well and have significant respect for each other's capabilities."

"I am very pleased that both have returned to Clemenger and particularly Marketforce/OMD, after gaining valuable experience both locally and abroad. We believe both will make a huge contribution to the Clemenger BBDO Network," he said.

Morgan added that Jim Gall will continue in his role as Acting CEO until June and will remain Chair of the new Marketforce/OMD Board.

It is a return of sorts to the agency for Marshall, who headed up OMD for almost four years from 2009 to 2013, before departing for a Singapore-based role as Asia-Pacific Head of Trading with Mindshare.

He returned to Perth in mid-2015 to take up his current position as MD of media agency Carat, and was named Ad Person of the Year at last year's Campaign Brief Awards (above).

OMD and Carat are amongst the agencies currently awaiting a decision on the State Government master media contract (Common Use Agreement).

... And if it did that would be highly un-ethical.
